Lichthalle | machwerkschau #4
The Lichthalle was part of the machwerkschau at the machwerkhaus Cologne and took place from 24 to 29 October 2025 as part of idd cologne downtown. Between installations, conversations and many new encounters, it became clear how closely design, craftsmanship and technology can work together. All systems on display were made in our Cologne manufacture and presented with smart light and Casambi lighting control. In this open atmosphere, new products and collaborations emerged that will continue far beyond these six days.
A central feature was the eighteen metre long suspended track, hanging freely from the eleven metre high ceiling. It quickly became a natural point of orientation and demonstrated how flexibly the Pend48 system can be used in large spaces.
New collaborations added even more openness to the space. Less’n’more brought DNA, ATHENE, ETHICS, LIQUID LIGHT and YLUX to the Buschfeld track. From Sanja Lulei Textile Design & Art came the light.ness luminaire, suspended from a Buschfeld track. Oligo presented YANO ONE. The ongoing collaboration with Baltensweiler was continued and made more visible, including FEZ on BF, LINIjA on BF and IRIO R on BF.
The partnership with Ambright was another important part of the Lichthalle. Together they developed Frame Work, a pendant luminaire that combines Ambright’s printed-light technology with Buschfeld’s clear formal language. Patrick Kersten was also present with his own work. His pieces added a precise, crafted attitude to the room and relied on burnished brass holders designed for both the track and the shades. The warm, muted metal supported the installed works beautifully. Together with Isabel Hamm, ceramic shades for the Fifty fix L pendants were shown for the first time. Their fine surface and clear form give the luminaire a calm, crafted character. At the same time, familiar elements were taken further with new colours. Tracks and shades in Machwerk bright red added a strong visual accent to the room.
A wide range of Buschfeld installations were also on display. These included the Rondo48 in diameters of 2000 and 3000 millimetres, fitted with Led Line Uplight, Ninety-Five S, Art Light and the Mini Projector. The Tri48 Floor appeared both as a custom floor-recessed version and in bronze with Ninety-Five spots. The Square installation, made of bright red tracks, hung as a grid in the window and was complemented by Fifty S and a matching red shade. Burnished brass accessories such as wall brackets and shades added warm details.
The Steel48 Floor in white, black and bronze were shown as well, along with two Freestyler Sphere versions with diameters of 1500 and 2060 millimetres. The larger version reached a height of three metres. The eighteen-metre Pend48 in bright red tied the space together and carried a mix of spots, Long Leaf and the new Fifty fix L pendants.
