Lucente, a long-standing customer of Buschfeld, has realized another remarkable project with Rondo48 circular luminaires. This time in St. Martin's Church in Nienburg, a historic building with a rich architectural history spanning several centuries.

The history of St. Martin's Church
A closer look at St. Martin's Church reveals various construction phases. The oldest parts date back to the late 12th century and include a vaulted building with a transept, the room compartments of which have remained largely unchanged to this day. The oldest, clearly visible part is the lower section of the tower, which was built from sandstone ashlars in the 13th century. In the middle of the 14th century, the choir, also made of sandstone ashlars, was built in a rather unusual design.

In the 15th century, the church was significantly remodeled: it was expanded into a late Gothic hall church by adding two side aisles with brick cladding. 

In 2024, several Rondo48 circular chandeliers with a diameter of 1800 mm in white were installed in the rooms of St. Martin's Church. These were custom-made for the project in order to emphasize the historical character of the church while integrating modern lighting technology.

The circular chandeliers are each suspended from eight cables with a special length of 7000 mm. Thanks to an intelligent solution in which two cables were brought together, only four ceiling drill holes were required, which minimized the impact on the historic building fabric and at the same time enabled optimum light distribution.

This project impressively demonstrates how modern lighting solutions and historical architecture can be harmoniously combined to emphasize both the history and the functionality of a room.
